EV charger installation in Pakenham & Cardinia.
Home and commercial EV chargers — Tesla Wall Connector, Wallbox, Zappi and more — installed by an Energy Safe Victoria registered contractor. Load assessment, a dedicated RCD-protected circuit, solar integration, United Energy notification where required, and a Certificate of Electrical Safety on completion.
EV charging done right for the Cardinia corridor.
The Pakenham and Cardinia growth corridor is one of Melbourne’s fastest-growing EV and rooftop-solar regions. New Officer estates are handed over solar-ready and EV-curious from day one, while established Cardinia Lakes, Heritage Springs and Beaconsfield owners are retrofitting chargers onto homes that already have panels. A proper EV charger install isn’t just bolting a unit to the wall — it’s sizing the load against your switchboard, running a dedicated protected circuit, and getting the network paperwork right.
Single-phase vs three-phase.
- Single-phase 7kW — the right choice for most homes. Adds roughly 40km of range per hour, fully tops up a car overnight. The default for Cardinia Lakes, Lakeside and Officer estate homes.
- Three-phase 22kW — faster charging, worth it if you already have three-phase (common on larger Heritage Springs and Beaconsfield blocks) or run two EVs. We confirm your supply before recommending it.
Chargers we install.
- Tesla Wall Connector — clean, app-managed, ideal for Tesla owners (works with other makes too).
- Zappi — the solar-aware favourite; charges from surplus rooftop solar so you fill the car on free daytime sun.
- Wallbox Pulsar / Commander — compact, smart, with load management for tighter switchboards.
- Commercial & fleet units — multi-bay and load-shared installs for businesses and body corporates.
Charge from your own solar.
With the corridor’s huge rooftop-solar base, the most common request we get is to charge the car from surplus daytime solar rather than the grid. A Zappi (or a suitably configured Tesla/Wallbox) integrates with your inverter and charges on excess generation. We set the charging modes during commissioning so you get free kilometres on sunny days and smart off-peak charging at night.
A worked example.
An Officer new-build with the switchboard on the garage wall, spare capacity and a short cable run: supply and install a 7kW Tesla Wall Connector or Zappi, a dedicated RCD-protected circuit, test, commission and certify — around $1,400. If the switchboard is full or ageing (common on early-2000s Cardinia Lakes homes) we usually pair the charger with a switchboard upgrade so the whole job is compliant and future-proof. Long cable runs or trenching on larger Beaconsfield blocks add cost.
Network & compliance.
United Energy is the distribution network across the corridor, and their connection rules require notification (and sometimes approval) for higher-load installs — particularly three-phase. We follow the Energy Safe Victoria EV-charger guidelines, handle the United Energy notification where required, install a dedicated RCD-protected circuit to AS/NZS 3000, and issue a Certificate of Electrical Safety. If you’d like the whole picture — board, charger and a safety check — we can quote it as one job.
